The assignment

The customer came to us with a worn part from a rotating unit for a machine that grips and moves round packaging. The machine dates from the 1970s and the part had a lot of play. The part in question is a crucial component in this packaging machine, where the reference points in particular must be positioned very precisely in relation to each other.

Our solution

Due to its irregular shape, it was not straightforward to finish the component in a second and third clamping, so we opted to finish everything in a single clamping. Afterwards, the component was milled away until it could be snapped off.

For this project, we reverse engineered all the components for the customer in order to deliver a fully functional assembly that handles thousands of units every day.
